Terms and Privacy Policy

The privacy of visitors to this site is important. This page explains what limited information is collected and how it is used. I will never sell or share your personal information, and the site has no login, no comment system, and no contact form — so no personal details are collected directly from you.

Hosting and log data

This site is served as static files by GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub's servers may record standard request metadata (IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp) for security and operational purposes. This data is handled under GitHub's Privacy Statement (external) and is not something this site controls or retains.

Analytics

I use privacy-friendly analytics to understand aggregate traffic trends (which pages are visited, roughly from where) without identifying individual visitors:

• GoatCounter (external) — a cookieless, no–personal-data analytics service. It is the source of the public Site Reach report and of the outbound-click counts that show which papers and files are opened. Its aggregates are retained for as long as that report is published.
• Google Analytics 4, loaded directly without Google Tag Manager, which does use cookies. Its purpose is the longer-run traffic trend and the referral breakdown that GoatCounter reports more coarsely; nothing from it is republished here. Its event data is held by Google and expires on the retention period configured in the property, not indefinitely by this site. You can review the Google Analytics Privacy Policy (external) and opt out with Google's browser add-on (external).

You can block or clear cookies through your browser settings at any time; the site remains fully usable without them.

KVKK and GDPR

Under Türkiye's Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the data controller for this site is Hüseyin Uğur Yıldız, TED University, Ankara. The processing described above is limited to aggregate audience measurement for an academic web presence and rests on legitimate interest (KVKK art. 5/2-f; GDPR art. 6(1)(f)); no special-category data is processed, no profile is built, and nothing is used for advertising or sold to anyone. Cookie-based measurement can be refused entirely through your browser without losing access to any part of the site.

You may ask what data relating to you is processed, and request its correction or erasure, by writing to hugur.yildiz@tedu.edu.tr — noting that the measurement described here is aggregate and cookieless in the GoatCounter case, so a request generally cannot be tied back to an individual record.

Theme preference

Your light/dark theme choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage). It never leaves your device and is not used for tracking.

External links

Pages link to third-party sites and host downloadable PDFs (CV, papers). Once you follow an external link or open a file hosted elsewhere, that destination's own privacy policy applies.
